Frank Euscher was a highly respected member of the Downhills Park Bowling Club. After enlisted he entered France 17/11/15 but was discharged due to wounds on 7/7/16. He managed to continue to play bowls despite the effects of his wounds until he ultimately died due to them in 1934.
A quote from his club states;
‘When the Great War broke out, Frank “did his bit.” He sold his business and enlisted, being under the command of the splendid bowling patron, Sir Wm. Prescott, J.P.
He was only a short time in France and was twice so badly wounded that he had to return to “Blighty,” but Sir William has put it on record that “he marvels how Corporal Euscher, after being wounded and ‘buried alive,’ was ever patched up sufficiently to bowl another wood.”
The medals are in good condition.
