1914 Mons Star named to 2479 Pte. J. Bains. 2/Manch: R.
John Bains was from Salford, Lancashire.
His service record shows that he was wounded in action three times.
Gun shot wound to right leg – 28/8/14
Gun shot wound to neck – 30/5/15
Shrapnel wound to abdomen – 17/8/17
He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with the 11th Battalion in 1916. L.G. 9/12/16.
The medal is in good condition.
