A first world war Mons star awarded to 2479 Private John Baines, Manchester Regiment, who was wounded in action three times and awarded the Military Medal.
1914 Mons Star named to 2479 Pte. J. Bains. 2/Manch: R.
John Bains was from Salford, Lancashire.
His service record shows that he was wounded in action three times.
Gun shot wound to right leg – 28/8/14
Gun shot wound to neck – 30/5/15
Shrapnel wound to abdomen – 17/8/17
He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with the 11th Battalion in 1916. L.G. 9/12/16.
The medal is in good condition.
